My people, e don happen again! Former Minister of State for Finance, Clement Agba, don drop bombshell for we Nigerians, say no be Federal Government wahala for the 133 million people wey dey suffer from multi-dimensional poverty. E share this gist for one video wey go viral on X, say na state and local governments dey suppose handle this poverty matter.
According to Agba, wey dey oversee the 2022 National Multidimensional Poverty Index survey, no be only financial poverty dey affect people wey dey below $2 a day, but this multi-dimensional poverty sef dey follow people wey no get basic amenities like clean water, education, and healthcare. Na im carry come this matter wey plenty people dey talk say na Buhari or Tinubu contribution dey increase poverty level.
Agba tayo say make we no blame Federal Government for poverty, as e talk say na Constitution dey outline wetin state and local governments suppose provide for citizens. “Who dey responsible for basic education? Na the sub-national governments. Basic health? Na dem. Potable water? Sub-national government again. So why we dey look Federal Government face?” Na wetin Agba talk wey make sense, abeg! Dem suppose deliver as dem talk am.
Na here the matter choke! Agba no go lose guard o! E yarn say most governors dey carry all the resources go urban centers, leaving the rural areas dry, where plenty people dey stay. He talk say even if you get plenty money, if you dey for community wey no get good health facilities and infrastructure, you dey suffer from multi-dimensional poverty. “If you get ten million dollars, but you fall sick and there’s no hospital around, how you wan survive?” Na wetin hin talk wey make we reason well.
As he dey defend current government, Agba don compare the removal of fuel subsidy to surgery wey go save person wey dey sick. E add say the suffering wey Nigerians dey feel now na the price for better future. “When sickness dey chop you, wetin you go do? You go just dey manage or you go cut am off? You go endure the pain so that better things fit happen.” How many of us fit reason this kind way? Na true, sha!
As we dey talk governance, Agba don also remind the Minister of Youth say make dem not forget Open Government Partnership wey dey help for transparency. E talk say as country, we no suppose dey depend on others for funding again. “We need to fit fund am ourselves, make sure say OGP dey run well,” Agba talk wey dey very serious matter.
No be say agadi measly poverty wey dey follow person wey no fit earn $2.15 per day, the multi-dimensional poverty dey track different levels of wahala wey person dey face. Agba don see am clearly say since 2022, 63% of Nigerians dey under this multi-dimensional poverty category. Na 15 indicators and four main areas like health, education, living standards, and work dey calculate am.
So, my people, make we shine our eyes, because e be like say we still get long way to go if the state and local governments no fit do wetin dem suppose do. E be like say na dem gatz make we better pass this life-thing, if not, na wah for all of us.
