Makoko Demolition: Na Who Go Speak For Di Suffering People?

Omo, see ehn! Di latest matter wey dey burst everybody brain na di demolition wey Lagos State government do for Makoko.

Dis demolition no be news, abi? Na wetin dem dey do since, but di wahala be say, e dey affect plenty people wey don settle for di area.

As we sabi, di American missionary, Jack Kyle, don show face for Makoko since August 2023, come dey help di people dem with clean water and other things wey go make life beta. But now, all di work wey him don do go reduce to nothing as dem pack di people comot from dia homes.

Dem no even carry anybody matter for head before dem start di demolition. E be like say dem forget say na people dey live for di place. People wey get children, schools, even churches for that slum wey dey float on di lagoon.

Dis kind matter dey vex me, because many of dem wey dey inside Makoko no be only fisherman. Plenty people don create opportunities and support for di community, but government no dey see di good side. E go fit make sense if dem carry dem move go better place, but no! Dem just tear di houses down like say dem dey chop pounded yam!

You know say for our country, a beg, e be like say na only money matter dey run things. Dem go carry money dey flow for place wey e no suppose enter, but dem no go fit help di poor wey dey suffer for dem own backyard.

Proudly, a lot of NGOs and individuals don dey try support di community, but as dem dey demolish, all di efforts dey go down di drain. E no make sense at all! Na why I dey talk say make we no forget humanity. If dem fit sabi how to demolish, dem for fit sabi how to support di people wey dey suffer too.

Now, di demolition dey attract political talks everywhere, but wetin we need na serious action. As dem dey claim say dem dey build megacity, na who go provide shelter for di displaced people?
