Wetin dey happen for Naija now? NAFDAC don start to enforce the ban on sachet alcohol, and naija people no dey smile.
This matter wey concern alcohol for sachets and small PET bottles, dem say e dey affect underage children and all. Mr. Wale-Smatt Oyerinde wey be NECA boss don talk say na bad timing for the government to carry out this enforcement. E dey fear say this go scatter many businesses wey dey operate legally. Na serious wahala be that oh!
Dem don open up say ban wey OSGF talk give dem last December don dey contrary to this new enforcement wey NAFDAC carry come. E be like say dem no dey follow due process again. NECA talk say this enforcement go make plenty workers lose their jobs and weaken investor confidence. Na only Naija wey dey suffer this kain thing.
Oyerinde talk say instead of them to dey punish companies wey dey follow rules, dem suppose focus on how minors dey get access to alcohol. Na monitoring problem, no be packaging wahala be the issue. E also sure say dem gatz enforce alcohol laws wey go make sense.
NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, don talk say dem dey protect children, but NECA dey talk say e no go stop bad things from happening. Dem dey claim sey sachets dey for people wey no get plenty money to buy alcohol for big bottles. If dem ban this sachets, na only dangerous unregistered products go replace am for streets. Na true talk be that!
D situation don bring protests for Lagos where workers dey shout say 5 million jobs fit go down because of this ban. Unions don dey shout say this wahala go affect dem, and no be small, if alcohol for sachets fit bring bad effects, wetin about all our local drinks wey dey fly everywhere?
With everything wey dey happen, NECA dey call for better talks on how to manage youth drinking matter, fast action against those wey dey sell illegal drinks, and make everybody dey involved for solution. No be just ban and go away.
As the gist dey unfold, we dey watch how this matter go change Naija economy, because if alcohol wey suppose dey legal fit turn illegal, wetin go happen next? We go need encourage our local industries, no be to scatter dem with bans.
