Registrar Dapo Oke run matter for dem statement wey dem drop, say the school don get long-term tradition to dey give honorary doctorate degrees to governors wey don work for Ogun State. According to dem, Otunba Gbenga Daniel na the first serving governor wey receive that award for 2010. E even show say his successor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, also enter that honorary club.
Na wetin dem call tradition, my people. But no be only governors dem dey honor, oh! During their 10th anniversary in 2015, dem even shower honor on big names like former President Olusegun Obasanjo and billionaire Aliko Dangote. Talk about Sir Kensington Adebutu, Asiwaju Adebola Adegunwa, and Dr Tunde Lemo too, dem sabi how to sprinkle honor for correct people. So, no be say dem dey do ‘abeg, abeg’ for Buhari matter.
The university even remind us say the recent award give to our current governor, Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun, no be anything special. Na just normal way dem dey run things for Ogun State as dem dey recognize all civilian governors. And about Olusegun Osoba, dem still respect am well because na him get the signature wey turn Tai Solarin College of Education into university. That one na big move for dem.
The gist wey dey go for social media wey dey suggest say Daniel dey get sidelined, e don happen because of wahala wey dey between the current Ogun State Government and the former governor. Both of dem dey under the All Progressives Congress umbrella, but politics no ever pure, abi?
As TASUED plan to hold their 17th convocation ceremony from January 23 to 29, 2026, dem don plan to confer honorary degrees on some big names like First Lady Oluremi Tinubu too. Dem go give am Doctor of Science in Childhood Education, while Governor Abiodun go collect Doctor of Science in Education Management. Osoba too go chop Doctor of Science in Political Science.
