No be small matter dey happen for Ogun State o! NULGE, wey be Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, don give Governor Dapo Abiodun 14 days to fit make local government work well again, or dem go strike chop. This one na serious wahala wey dem talk for their meeting for Abeokuta, wey happen on Wednesday.
The union don dey complain say Ogun State government dey mess up operations for local government, and dem no wan carry una load again. Dem talk say Supreme Court don don rule, National Assembly don drop directives, and even President Bola Tinubu don talk say local government suppose get autonomy, but wetin we see? Nothing done happen!
NULGE president, Adefesobi Adebayo, don talk say dem sit down for their secretariat for Abeokuta, and dem don katsia how government no dey response to wetin dem talk. E simply mean say, if dem no see action for 14 days, wahala go burst on top dem head!
Dem don point out say, Ogun State local government office dey suffer. Na so poor office setup, rotting infrastructure, and workers wey no dey motivated dey work under bad conditions dey affect service delivery. Dem don even talk say if state government no gree, dem go withdraw from any agreement wey dem get over contributory pension scheme.
For the same statement, NULGE talk say government don carry away plenty money wey suppose enter local government. This money na from mobile ads, motor park tickets, and tenement rates wey locals dey pay. How person wan do anything when no money dey?
Dem vex say, state government dey treat the Heads of Local Government Administration like say dem no matter, while dem dey give the people for civil service better pay. E mean say dem no gree follow the standard, and na so dem dey collect small salary while others dey chop well well.
But, wey dem go put am straight, NULGE talk say dem still dey open for dialogue and engagement with the state government. So, if Ogun government fit waka come mad wey holistic solution dey, wey no be only finger point, who know, we fit avoid strike?
