Abeg, gather here! If you dey follow how Nigeria economy dey run, you go don notice say the private sector don dey holler well well. The Organised Private Sector of Nigeria (OPSN) don sound alarm say we need serious economic and regulatory reforms before our businesses go begin run like tire wey don puncture.
For one meeting wey dem hold, Chairman of OPSN, Jani Ibrahim, talk say na the private sector naim dey drive employment and economic growth, but dem dey face wahala from multiple taxes and crazy operational costs. E no good again, my people!
Ibrahim check am well, and hin notice say small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) dey account for over 90 percent of businesses for Naija, and over 80 percent of employment, yet dem dey struggle pass for this country. Costs don dey rise like say person dey blow balloon, and na im dey put dem under serious pressure.
So, waiting the oga dey talk wey fit change dis matter? He call for government to consider the survival of private sector as national priority. No be joke o! He dey talk say make dem simplify tax system, reduce overlapping taxes wey different government bodies dey impose, and set better rules wey no go turn businesses to zombies.
Another big man for the matter na the National President of the Nigeria Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Dr. Abdulrashid Yerima. E dey scream say the current tax reforms be like light for tunnel, e fit help SMEs to grow again. But he don also talk say if dem no monitor am well, e no go work.
Otunba Francis Meshioye, wey be the president of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), don join the gist too. E dey agree say reforms good, but him warn say if government no implement am well, e go cause wahala instead of solution. Na poor implementation wey fit scatter everything. E dey call for engagement with relevant authorities to stop illegal tax collection as well.
Na so e be now, for those wey dey look say we fit reposition Nigeria manufacturing sector, the solution no go come from sky. We need a clear road map and better policies wey fit make SMEs and manufacturers thrive again. If we still dey cry for reforms and no action dey happen, Naija market go dey suffer pass.
Make we dey watch how these talks for reforms go turn! We still dey hope say tomorrow go better make our businesses dey strong hand again. Na we go carry the economy on our back, but first, we need dem to fix these system wahala. So, my people, make we dey alert!
