No be small thing wey dey happen for Lagos o! SOVCI don do am big this year as dem celebrate International Day of Education. Dem gather over 100 pikin for Oto-Ijanikin area, come give dem educational materials wey go help dem for school.
The gist be say, this event happen for Prof. A.O.K. Noah Hall wey dey Lagos State University of Education. E no just be ordinary event, as schoolchildren from various public schools come join body, show say education na the way.
Mr. Euriel Momah wey be the founder and team lead of SOVCI talk say dem dey focus to support poor and vulnerable children. E explain say their Street to School programme wey start for January 2023, na im dey help children wey dey struggle to fit attend school. “Na to make sure say dem no drop out because dem no fit pay school fees or get basic materials,” he yarn.
Momah no keep quiet, e also talk say some children dey receive school fees support, while others dey collect materials wey go help dem learn. “Our vision na to close the gap between those wey dey school and those wey dey outside,” e add.
E even *shout* for public to help dem sustain this good work, “We need people wey get good heart make dem invest for this our project. Funds go help plenty children wey dey suffer.” Na serious matter be this o, as we fit see say the future of our children dey depend on this kind efforts.
Dem partner with Youth Orientation for Development and Lagos State Ministry of Education, District V, to make the event happen. Emmanuel Ejogu wey be the President of Youth Orientation for Development also come drop wisdom. E talk say vulnerable children no be just people wey dey collect charity; dem get potential and dreams, and if dem fit get access and opportunities, dem fit change better things for society.
Prof. S.A. Dosumu from Lagos State University too use im mouth talk say educationists suppose ensure say children dey receive quality education. E emphasis say as dem dey look up to us, we gatz keep provide better education for dem.
To make the day sweet, dem also get poetry presentations and short documentaries wey dey inspire. E be like say na real carnival as children dey showcase their talents.
