So, wetin happen be say, some lawmakers from House of Representatives don carry their mouth come say Prof Ikpeme no fit reject 17 fresh medical doctors wey dem send go UCTH for their housemanship. Dis matter no be small thing, as 15 out of those 17 doctors na our people wey dey Igbo land.
The House don gather as one to talk see wetin dey happen for plenary, with Mr Iduma Igariwey wey represent Afikpo South and North for Ebonyi State as the mouthpiece for the gist. E don release gist wey show say Ikpeme no wan consider the list because of say many Igbo doctors dey among dem. Na wah! No be small ethnic tension dis one dey bring come ground.
Igariwey talk say e no go fit stand see person dey go against the law wey say make we no discriminate based on tribe. E add say dis matter dey worsen our health system wey dey already suffer from manpower wahala. E talk say Nigeria only dey see about 40,000 doctors wey dey work, while the country need about 300,000 doctors to fit face the health needs wey dey everywhere.
As lawmakers dey hot, dem don give green light for the CMD make e cool down or face the suspension gbege, so as to allow the committee on Health Institutions make dem carry out investigations without wahala. No be lie, everybody dey side the motion wey dem vote for to make sure say Ikpeme no go fit interfere with any matter wey dey for ground.
For now, na only time go tell wetin go happen next. But one thing wey clear be say this discrimination no go fit stand for our health sector wey already dey suffer.
