No be small matter o, my people! Dem KEDCO workers wey dey carry hand no go chop light don finally come back to work after dem suspend their strike. Dis wahala no be joke, e don affect plenty people wey dey rely on light for everyday life. E even happen after dem carry strike waka go meet KEDCO management wey no fit deliver on wetin dem promise!
As e be, dem unions wey dey represent di KEDCO workers – we get Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) and National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) – don agree say dem go end di strike after dem see say some discussions don happen for Kano State Ministry of Power. Na dia dem talk say KEDCO go pay wetin dem owe for 2019 13th-month salary – about N150 million! Chai! Na big money o!
The company also promise say dem go pay di 2025 13th-month salary bonus by February 2026, along with di normal salaries wey dem dey pay workers every month. Dis arrangement na big win for di workers! E mean say dem fit now focus on correct work wey go make light dey available for all of us.
But make we no forget how e all start. Di workers no fit keep quiet again as dem dey cry out about di poor working conditions and pension issues wey don dey linger like bad olor. E no easy for dem to hold dem mouth closed when dem don try talk to management since di strike wey start on January 20. Wetin happen? No response!
Now wey di strike don comot, Sani Bala Sani, di Head of Corporate Communications for KEDCO talk say dem appreciate di patience wey di customers show during di three days wey people no fit enjoy light. Dem still emphasize say dem go keep up di good work and ensure say services dey improve for everybody wey dey patronize dem.
So, my people, make we dey enjoy di light as e don return. We go keep our fingers crossed make sure say next time e no go turn to another strike wahala again. As we dey talk now, na only good vibes we dey need, so carry your matter go where dem dey share light, no let anybody burst your head!
