Naija no dey slack as dem gather for Abuja to honour our fallen heroes!
As January 15 come again, Vice-President Kashim Shettima don step in for President Bola Tinubu, wey dey locale for UAE. Dem gather well well with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, members of the National Assembly, service chiefs, and diplomatic corps to show respect for our military personnel.
Dem gather for National Arcade for Abuja, where dem dey lay wreaths as part of the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day. The VP Shettima first lay wreath, then Senate President follow, dem bring in some other big men too, including IGP Kayode Egbetokun and the defence chief Olufemi Oluyede. Everybody dey do their own to honour the men and women wey don pay the ultimate price for Naija!
But wetin we for remember today no be only the dead. Dem also dey celebrate those wey dey alive, especially the veterans wey still dey work for our peace. This year, the ceremony change name from Armed Forces Remembrance Day to Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day. Na to honour our living heroes and support their families too!
Naija no be where you fit just forget. This year, dem do series of activities before today; Jumma’at prayer pancake for January 9, interdenominational service for January 11, and even medical outreach for the veterans dem. Na serious matter wey dey show say we dey care for our own!

The event dey come after a week of prayers, discussions, and celebrations wey fit put smile for the face of military families and remind dem say their sacrifices no go ever be in vain!
As for the matter of welfare for armed forces, different governors dey talk their own. Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu don talk say make we dey pray for peace, security, and wisdom for our leaders. Delta State’s Sheriff Oborevwori talk say Naija citizens gatz honour the fallen heroes by being active, unified and part of the system!
Meanwhile, Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri don emphasize say welfare for the soldiers gatz improve; dem no suppose dey suffer after sacrificing their lives for our peace. Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun don applaud Tinubu for his security efforts and the steps wey e dey take to keep Naija safe.
Pastors and church leaders join the gist too, dey remind us say the sacrifices wey dem make for our unity and peace gatz show us how e go take be if we respect each other and work together for better Nigeria.
