My people, make I drop one serious gist wey dey hot for Abuja. Na the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) don finally drop their revised Register of Voters for Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as we dey prepare for di Area Council Election wey go happen on February 21, 2026. As e be, di total number of registered voters don rise to 1,680,315! E no small at all!
This presentation happen for one Stakeholders’ meeting wey dem hold on January 14, 2026, and Malam Aminu Idris, di REC for FCT, sabi say dis exercise na serious constitutional requirement as we dey waka towards di election. Remember say INEC start di Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) na August 18, 2025, with online pre-registration, and dem follow am with physical registration from September 29, 2025. Chai! Na so dem take dey gather all di voters wey wan make their voice count.
But wetin be di koko? Di CVR stop for FCT on October 12, 2025, so dey fit revise di Register of Voters for di upcoming election. As he talk, dem carry out biometric deduplication, claims and objections display, and compile supplementary list. Na so dem take get di current register wey dey different from di old one. Di increase wey dem get from 1,570,307 wey dem record for 2023 to dis new figure no be beans o!
Malam Idris no forget to yarn about how dem dey prepare for di Area Council Election wey go fill 62 councillorship seats and six chairmanship positions across di FCT. E talk say dem don do plenty things like monitoring party primaries, publish final lists of candidates, and activation of di Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). E sweet me as he encourage all di political parties to maintain peaceful atmosphere well well.
As if dat one no enough, Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for di new registered voters don land for FCT, and dem go soon announce when people fit start to collect dem. My people, make sure say you grab your PVC, because na im be your weapon to shape di future!
Meanwhile, dem don also resume di Continuous Voter Registration for Anambra State after e pause on July 20, 2025. Dis is to clean up di voters’ register and distribute PVCs before di governorship election wey dey come on November 8, 2025. Anambra better get ready because di CVR go provide opportunity for dem to register, update records, and fit replace any PVC wey don lost. Everybody wey wan vote fit jare!
