My people, wetin dey happen for obodo Naija? Tax matter don turn headline like say na hot news for market! President Bola Tinubu don sign tax reform law wey many people dey vex for, as dem claim say some things don change for am after e don pass well-well.
This wahala don start after Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and plenty civil society people don shout say dem no gree accept wetin dem don see. Dem talk say di tax reform legislation, wey pipo no even too gree before e pass, dey carry serious konji matter wey fit affect everybody!
As dem don sign di new tax law, dem say e go take effect for January 1, 2026. Na four major bills dem pass, wey involve Nigeria Tax Act, Nigeria Tax Administration Act, Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, and Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Act. Dem say na to make tax compliance easy and to remove some **wawu** taxes wey dey disturb people.
But e be like say some lawmakers dey carry matter for head. Abdussamad Dasuki from Sokoto don blow whistle say wetin dey published no match wetin dem vote for! Di guy don dey raise eyebrow o, as e talk say if dem no settle this issue now, di whole laws fit enter trouble. So, dem don form ad hoc committee to look am well.

As wahala dey brew, Atiku and Obi no fit keep quiet. Dem wan make sure say dem investigate how dis law suppose happen, as dem dey fear say some serious provision wey concern di people fit don disappear from di law. Obi don vex talk say as dem dey manipulate laws like dis, na only trouble we go dey see for governance.
Even di African Democratic Congress dey shout say dis new tax law na draconian, make dem suspend am make everybody fit look am well. Their spokesperson even talk say na bad news for democracy if dem fit change law after e don pass.
