IBADAN, Oyo State — Yekini Adeojo, prominent politician and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), don pass away. He die for early morning hours of Friday, April 4, 2025, for him residence in Iyaganku Government Reserved Area of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Adeosho, wey serve as the former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the PDP, also hold the title of Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland. Na him be the papa of the current Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government Area, Sheriff Adeojo.
In 1999, Adeojo run for governor under PDP but the details surrounding him death still dey unfold as at press time on Friday. Family source talk to The PUNCH say, “Our father die this morning (Friday). We dey work on burial arrangements. The family go issue statement soon.”
Meanwhile, Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, don express him sorrow for the passing of Adeojo. Makinde describe him as one of the last great men in the political scene, say him dead mark the end of one glorious political era. The governor send condolence to Adeojo family, pray make God give dem the strength to carry the loss of their patriarch.
In a traditional public statement wey him Special Adviser (Media), Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, release on Friday, Makinde talk, “I just receive news about the passing of our father, Pa Yekini Adeojo. I dey condole the family of Alhaji Adeojo, the PDP in Oyo State and all the good people of the state over the demise of man wey many of us grow to know as icon and patriot.”
“Baba’s dead mark the end of one glorious political era, as he na one of the last great men wey dey stand for our state as political, community, and religious leader,” Makinde continue. “He go dey greatly missed by the PDP family, wey him don lead for over two decades.”
Makinde add that Adeojo’s death go leave big vacuum for Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole, because Baba always dey serve the state and nation with all him strength. “Na my prayer say God go grant him soul rest, give him Aljanah Firdaus and uphold the family wey remain,” he concluded.
