Gwamnatin Burtaniya ta fara sallacewa daruruwan fursunon 1,000 za su kara andar asiri a yau, a matsayin wani ɓangare na shirin su na rage yawan fursunon a gidajen kurkuku. Wannan shi ne zagaye na biyu da aka fara sallacewa fursunon, bayan da aka sallaka fursunon 1,700 a watan Satumba.
Shirin na sallacewa fursunon ya samu goyon bayan gwamnatin Burtaniya ta gano cewa gidajen kurkuku sun kai kololuwa, inda yawan fursunon ya kai 88,521 a ranar 6 ga watan Satumba. Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood ta ce gidajen kurkuku suna kusa da “point of collapse”.
Fursunon da za a sallaka sun hada da wadanda suka cika 40% na hukuncin su, wanda ya rage daga 50% na baya. Gwamnatin ta bayyana cewa shirin ba zai shafi fursunon da aka yanke musu hukunci kan laifukan jima’i, ta’addanci, da kisan kai, amma wasu fursunon da aka yanke musu hukunci kan laifukan doman abinci ba za a sallaka ba.
Wakilan gwamnati sun ce suna yin hakan ne saboda tsananin matsalar gidajen kurkuku, inda suka ce gwamnatin baya ta bar su cikin matsala. Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer ya ce ba su da zaɓi illa su rage lokacin da fursunon ke yi a gidajen kurkuku.
Kungiyar kula da gidajen kurkuku ta Burtaniya ta nuna damuwa game da shirin, tana ce za su iya sake aikata laifuka. Former Home Secretary Dame Priti Patel ta kuma nuna damuwa kan hakan, tana ce gwamnatin ta gaza bayyana tasirin shirin kan tsaron jama’a.
