The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) don agree to work together on development projects for the Niger Delta region. Dem set up a joint committee to create a partnership framework to support dis collaboration.
On Wednesday, the Managing Director of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, meet with the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Al-Shamsi, to discuss areas of collaboration. Ogbuku no de alone; him come with other top officials like Alabo Boma Iyaye, Executive Director of Finance and Administration, and Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, Executive Director of Corporate Services.
Al-Shamsi talk say UAE dey willing to collaborate with NDDC on several areas including Information Communication Technology (ICT), education, health, agriculture, and youth development. Him commend NDDC for their development initiatives and say UAE ready to support dem in executing more projects.
Ogbuku give a rundown of what NDDC dey do and the achievements dem record so far. Him also seek UAE’s help in equipping the NDDC’s regional specialist cardiovascular and orthopedic hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Ogbuku add say dem dey committed to expanding NDDC’s Public Private Partnership (PPP) and welcome the opportunity to meet with UAE officials to foster collaboration in health, education, and oil and gas.
Al-Shamsi express satisfaction say UAE and Nigeria relationship don normalize, and Emirates Airline, UAE national carrier, don resume operations between Lagos and Dubai.
