Nuhu Bamali, de Emir of Zazzau, don talk say true Fulani men no dey carry AK-47s. Bamali make dis statement on October 12 at a cultural event organised by de Fulani Development and Cultural Organisation (FUDECO).
According to Bamali, a Fulani man supposed to carry stick and cutlass to take care of him livestock, not AK-47. He say dis actions of few bad elements no suppose to represent de entire ethnic group.
Bamali emphasize say Fulani culture no support violence or carrying guns. He say, ‘Fulani should continue to be proud people as always, they should always maintain their values, those core values of a Fulani man.’
He also talk about how Fulanis are very enlightened and educated people, saying ‘I believe, are de best educated people in dis country.’
Ahmed Shehu, guest speaker and founding secretary of FUDECO, also condemn de stereotyping of Fulanis. Shehu compare de treatment of Fulanis in Nigeria to how Adolf Hitler treat Jews in Germany.
Shehu say, ‘Anyone who dey bush and cause destruction, no be one of us. De world should hear dis. We distance ourselves from dem. They be thieves and we no get business with dem.’
