Tinubu Support An Easter Call for Unity Naija Leaders Don Make

ABUJA, Nigeria — During this year’s Easter celebration, prominent Nigerian leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, have called on the nation to embrace love, unity, and peace.

At the heart of their messages, these leaders urged citizens to rise above political, religious, and ethnic divisions as the country continues to grapple with insecurity and social tensions. Atiku emphasized that the virtues of Jesus Christ are critical for Nigeria’s unity, especially during challenging times.

“Let us remain steadfast in the pursuit of unity across every divide. Our strength as a people lies in our togetherness,” Atiku declared, highlighting the need for Nigerians of all faiths and ethnicities to unite in prayer for the nation’s progress.

In his Easter message, Akpabio reinforced the idea of inclusivity, appealing to citizens to reject biases that threaten national cohesion. He specifically addressed those engaged in violence, urging them to recognize the sanctity of life and embrace love over hatred.

“Easter is a period of love. I hope the atmosphere of this season will inspire change in the hearts of those perpetrating violence,” Akpabio said, encouraging all Nigerians to assist those affected by violence in their communities.

Additionally, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani reminded Christians of the importance of sacrifice during Easter, encouraging them to reflect on the life of Jesus Christ. “See Easter as a season of sacrifice and renewal,” Sani urged, asking people to pray for the governance of the state and the nation.

The Gombe State Governor and chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya, extended warm greetings to the Christian community, emphasizing the values of compassion and hope that Easter represents.

“Let us embrace love and unity, reaffirming faith in God and service to humanity,” Yahaya stated, accentuating his belief that these values can lead to a better society.

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah described Easter as a time for forgiveness and strengthening bonds among Nigerians. “Let us use this celebration to pray for Nigeria and to strengthen our unity,” he encouraged.

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara highlighted the need for good leadership, urging citizens to align with the positive agenda set by President Bola Tinubu. “Let the peace of Christ dwell richly in our hearts, restoring relationships,” Fubara said, reaffirming his commitment to governance in Rivers State.

On a similar note, Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, implored Christians to pray for empathetic leaders who genuinely care about the people. His statement echoed the call for more compassionate governance amid Nigeria’s difficulties.

“There is no better time to pray for caring leaders than Easter, as we reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus,” Obi emphasized. He presented a vision of a “New Nigeria” that can arise from the values of compassion and responsibility.

As the Easter celebrations continue, the nationwide calls from these leaders spotlight a collective hope for unity, healing, and progress in Nigeria.
