YAOUNDE, Cameroon – E be as if we don enter for political drama, as Cameroon opposition leader, Issa Tchiroma Bakary don declare say him don win di presidential election wey just happen. Dis matter come as di whole country dey wait for di official results, but Tchiroma no wan hear word, him dey run mouth for social media.
In di video wey him post on Tuesday, he dey vex like say na him be di only person wey fit win. Him talk say, ‘Di people don choose, and dis choice must be respected.’ (Abeg, who no go like to chop victory gisted like true padi?)
But make we put am for ground – di government don talk say na only di Constitutional Council fit announce who win officially. Dis council get like two weeks to drop di bombshell, and Tchiroma dey already dey call on 92-year-old incumbent, President Paul Biya, make him call am to congratulate am. E sweet like palm wine for him mouth!
Tchiroma, wey don follow Biya closely for 20 years as government spokesman, don come out strong after him resign for June. Him campaign don dey shine like new naija car, gathering large crowd and endorsement from other opposition parties. Di man be like person wey dey hungry for victory, and him dey ready to chop am raw.
Naija, meet Biya, di man wey don dey rule Cameroon since 1982. We no go lie, e fit be like say dem vex for him time. With him age, dem dey expect say di game go sweet him for another seven years. Imagine dis man don dey ran show since wey dem dey sell cassette!
Di government don keep quiet since Tchiroma drop him ‘Baba I don win’ gist. Paul Atanga Nji, di Minister of Territorial Administration, warn say any declaration wey no come from di Constitutional Council go be treated like high treason. Na wah! E get as wa ebiano dey no like ‘too much talk’.
Tchiroma don tell all di people say make dem believe for di ‘truth of di ballot box’. Him don even acknowledge di rival candidates wey don dey congratulate am already. E mean say him dey spread di love now, but we sabi say dis na politics. (I no go lie, I like di vibes!)
Dis election na very crucial for Cameroon wey dey face serious wahala from different angles. With old age and increase for social unrest, di whole country dey look for fresh face. No be wrong to dey wish for change at dis time. No be say dem dey chop and play na only dem dey rule – dem need make things correct.
