Super Eagles vs Libya: Journalists Kidnapped on Way to Match

Some sports journalists wey dey travel to Uyo to cover the African Nations Cup qualifier match between Super Eagles of Nigeria and Libya don dey kidnapped. The incident happen on Wednesday, 9th of October, 2024, as dem dey pass through Iseke, around Ihiala area of Anambra State.

The number of journalists wey dem kidnap no dey clear yet, but some sources say some of dem don dey rescued. The spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirm the incident and say men of the Command dey work hard to rescue the journalists.

Ikenga talk say, “We intercept the information as e dey share on various social media platforms yesterday, and we go to work immediately. As I speak to you, a joint operation dey ongoing. We no sure if dem still dey captivity or if dem able to escape.”

The Super Eagles go face Libya in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Friday for the AFCON qualifier match. Despite the challenges, the team dey prepare well, with players like Iheanacho and Ejuke already join the squad in Uyo.
