Shehu Sani Talk Wetin Social Media Regulation Fit Cause for Nigeria!

Abuja, Nigeria – Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, don drop wisdom wey get as e be. For him latest update wey he put for X (formerly Twitter), him dey explain the wahala wey fit come from regulating social media for Naija. No be small matter o! He warn say if dem try am, e fit scatter free speech and allow government to dey hide from accountability like say dem dey play hide and seek.

Shehu make this statement on Sunday as the Department of State Services (DSS) dey hala X to remove tweet wey activist, Omoyele Sowore, post. The video wey Sowore share show President Bola Tinubu for him trip go Brazil, and na there him label am “criminal” because of some wahala wey concern corruption claims. DSS no find am funny at all, as dem write letter to X to delete Sowore’s tweet and other related ones. (Abeg, dem fit just remove dem for this gully wahala wey dey happen?)

In him post, Shehu Sani no dey ignore the truth. He accept say social media fit turn to place wey people dey use for harassment and even violence. But he come say make dem no go use heavy hand regulate am, so that e no go dey affect our freedom to talk. He dey push for balanced approach wey go fit allow for social media regulation without locking down democracy.

“If you regulate the social media, you dey trample on freedom of speech. If you no regulate am, na wahala. E fit turn be tool for hate, harassment, and incitement to violence,” he write. E no just stop for Naija, he talk say even dem big men for Western countries dey scratch their heads on how to handle social media matter. (Dem fit just be like our Naija leaders? No be joke!)

“The social media na like gun; e fit save life and e fit also cause wahala.” Shehu dey urge democratic countries to find that balance between rights and decency. (This one na serious matter o! Make we no dey shoot ourselves for foot, abeg!)
