SEVILLA, Spain — The Plenary of the Diputación de Sevilla unanimously approved on Tuesday the list of individuals, companies, and groups receiving the Gold Medal of the Province for 2025. This prestigious award ceremony will take place on May 23 at the Teatro Cartuja Center, under the theme ‘Aquí, Sevilla’, aiming to strengthen the bond between the capital and its municipalities, while celebrating the talents of the honorees.
The awardees come from various fields, including culture, arts, sports, education, medicine, cooperation, and business. They have been recognized for their significant contributions, leadership, and commitment to promoting Sevilla’s history and values. Their work serves as an inspiration to the public and contributes to knowledge, health, and social and economic progress.
During the session chaired by Javier Fernández, the Diputación agreed to honor these deserving individuals and organizations. Notable recipients include the Gitano community, recognized for their six centuries of shared history in Spain, particularly in Sevilla, and for their commitment to equality and social justice.
The Hermandad del Rocío de Villamanrique, led by José Pérez Velázquez, receives accolades for preserving traditions associated with their devotion to the Virgin of Rocío and promoting local tourism, economy, and environmental conservation.
Alfombras Baldomero, represented by president Diana Adán, is applauded for maintaining a century-long artisanal practice that has transcended challenges and adapted to modern demands, becoming a symbol of genuine manual work.
Álvaro Moreno, founder and president of the company of the same name, earns recognition for his innovative spirit and deep connection to Andalusian traditions while spreading Sevilla’s name nationally.
The veteran guitarist Antonio Carrión, honored for his 50-year career promoting flamenco, leaves an indelible mark on the genre and its future.
