Despite the controversies surrounding him, including allegations of sexual misconduct which him was cleared of, Salmond’s legacy as a formidable and passionate politician remain strong. Nicola Sturgeon, who succeed Salmond as SNP leader and First Minister, describe him as her mentor and a significant figure in her life.
