Rivers State HoS Dr. Nwaeke Don Resign as New SSG Change Paradigm

The statement read, “The office of His Excellency, di Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (retd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR, dey sad to announce di resignation of di Head of Service, Rivers State, Dr. George Nwaeke, FCA, Mni. Di Administrator dey appreciate di immense contributions wey he show dis administration during di brief period wey him serve and dey wish am well for di future.”

As Ibas dey adapt to changes, he don appoint Professor Ibibi Worika as di new Secretary to di Rivers State Government. Di appointment come follow di resignation and was confirmed in another statement from Ibas, also on Tuesday.

Di statement noted, “His Excellency, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd.) CFR, dey happy to announce di appointment of Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as di new Secretary to di Rivers State Government (SSG). His appointment follow careful consideration of im credentials, extensive experience, and performance during rigorous selection process.”

Worika get a distinguished background wey span academia, international legal practice, and high-level policy advisory roles, making am fit to help di Administrator carry out di mandates of di President. Di statement emphasized say dis appointment take immediate effect and represent di commitment of di Administrator to utilize di great human capital of Rivers State.

Dis development come just one week after President Bola Tinubu declare state of emergency for Rivers State, suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara and im Deputy, Ngozi Nma Ordu, plus all members of di State Assembly. Di President’s decision don face heavy backlash from political figures, civil society organizations, di Nigerian Bar Association, and di Nigeria Labour Congress, as well as many Rivers State residents.

For now, Dr. (Mrs.) Iyingi Brown, di Permanent Secretary for Welfare in di Office of di Head of Service, don assume acting capacity until dem appoint another Head of Service. Ibas congratulate Brown and emphasize on di need for neutrality and stability in di state.
