On Thursday, the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, made a significant donation to the victims of the recent flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno State. She presented relief materials and a cash donation of N250 million to support 5,000 women whose petty businesses were affected by the flood.
The donation was part of her courtesy visit to Borno State, where she was received by Governor Babagana Zulum. Alongside the wife of the Vice President, Nana Kashim Shettima, Mrs. Tinubu handed over the relief items, which included household items, clothing, and other essential needs for the affected women.
This is not the first time Mrs. Tinubu has extended support to the people of Borno State. Earlier, she had sent the wife of the Vice President to present a donation of N500 million as cash support to the state government and the affected people. The latest N250 million donation is aimed at helping the women restart their small-scale businesses and regain their livelihoods.
During her visit, Mrs. Tinubu also paid a courtesy call on the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, where she expressed her condolences and prayed for the quick restoration of hope and peace in the state capital. The Minister for Health, Prof Mohammed Parte, also donated pharmaceutical products worth millions of naira to the flood victims, further bolstering the relief efforts.
Governor Babagana Zulum expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady for their continuous support and donations to the people and government of Borno State. The First Lady’s visit and donations are seen as a significant gesture of solidarity and support to the flood-affected communities.
