Reims Go Face PSG as Gabriel Moscardo Talk Chances for Cup Final

NANTES, France – This Friday evening, OGC Nice go host Reims for matchday 32 of Ligue 1. During a recent press conference, Gabriel Moscardo, the 19-year-old Brazilian midfielder, discussed the upcoming final of the French Cup set for May 24 against Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes. This match will be particularly significant for Moscardo, who joined Reims on loan from PSG in January 2024.

“It will of course be a particular match for me. I arrived in France to play with PSG. For the moment, I only think of Reims, but it will be special. I want to show all the French that I am a good player and prove to PSG that I can play there next season,” Moscardo told reporters.

He also shared insights about his relationship with his parent club. “I have some contact with Marquinhos since he is Brazilian and the captain, and also with Luis Campos, the sports director. Initially, PSG wanted me to gain experience here at Reims. After the Copa América and my injury, they informed me they want to see me healthy. They’re supportive,” he explained.

Currently under contract with PSG until June 2024, the Taubaté native has played only six games for Stade de Reims this season due to a prolonged foot injury. Despite this setback, he remains optimistic about his future and the team’s performance in the cup final.

Meanwhile, Reims is in decent form ahead of the clash with PSG. They come into this match having secured 13 wins, 8 draws, and 14 losses, sitting mid-table. In their last five games, they have won three and lost one, showing signs of improvement. Their latest match resulted in a narrow 1-0 victory over Toulouse, demonstrating their resilience.

On the other hand, Montpellier is facing dire circumstances this season, currently positioned 18th with only 4 wins, 3 draws, and a staggering 23 losses. They are on a troubling streak of 11 consecutive losses, most recently suffering a heavy 5-1 defeat to Olympique Marseille, highlighting their struggles in both offense and defense.

Reims’ top performer, Keito Nakamura, remains pivotal to their success, being the team’s leading scorer with 11 goals. Following a double against Lens, Nakamura continues to play a key role in Reims’ resurgence following the departure of Will Still as head coach in May 2024.

The coming fixtures hold much significance for both teams. While Montpellier fights to avoid relegation, Reims aims to solidify their position in mid-table and seek glimpses of a strong performance in the cup final.

Betting options have also begun to shift, with many predicting a win for Reims against PSG alongside various other betting tips emerging as teams prepare for the final stretches of the season. Reims has historically performed well against Montpellier, with their recent encounter ending in a 4-2 victory for Reims.

The contrast in motivations makes this upcoming fixture one to watch closely as both teams navigate their challenges with different goals in mind.
