The Borno State Police Command don re-arrest another convict wey escape from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Maiduguri. The convict, Auwalu Aminu, also known as Auwalu Kirkir, was serving jail term for criminal conspiracy and theft before him escape during the severe flooding in September 2024.
According to ASP Nahum Daso, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Auwalu Aminu, who be 24 years old, escape when the flood collapse the fence of the correctional facility. Daso say the police act quick on credible intelligence and re-arrest the fugitive on October 16, 2024, in Banki town.
The police get tip-off say Aminu dey Banki town, and dem swiftly respond and apprehend am. Daso add say the convict will now be handed back to the Nigeria Correctional Service for further action.
This re-arrest bring the number of escaped convicts wey police apprehend so far to three, following the earlier arrests of Abubakar Mohammed and Kyari Kur, who also flee during the September 10 flood.
