Porro, who play as more of an inverted fullback than a traditional right-back in Postecoglou’s formation, has been praised for his attack-minded play. He has been instrumental in Tottenham’s games, ranking among di club’s top two in tackles, blocks, interceptions, and chances created this season. He even scored Spurs’ first goal of di season in a 1-1 draw with Leicester City.
Real Madrid, di current Champions League holders, have been monitoring Porro’s progress for some time now and have filed ‘positive reports’ on him. Dis interest comes as Real Madrid are in di market for a new right-back, especially with Dani Carvajal’s anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) knee injury. However, Porro has insisted that he is fully focused on his club, Tottenham, despite being proud of di links to Real Madrid.
Porro himself has admitted that he still has a lot to improve, comparing himself to Spanish right-backs Dani Carvajal and Jesus Navas. He described himself as ‘rubbish’ compared to these legends but is working hard every day to reach their levels. He credited Postecoglou for helping him improve his one-on-one defending skills since joining Tottenham from Sporting Lisbon.
