San Francisco, California — OpenAI don launch their new coding tool, Codex, wey go change how developers dey work. The tool dey available as research preview, and e fit handle plenty coding tasks, from writing to debugging code, all for the cloud.

“We designed Codex to help with repetitive coding tasks so developers fit focus on bigger problems,” OpenAI talk for their release statement. “Each task e dey take between one to 30 minutes, depending on wetin you give am to do,” dem add.
Codex dey operate using codex-1, a special version of OpenAI’s o3 model. Dis model don go through reinforcement learning wey make am sabi how to generate better code. “E dey show all di steps wey e take to solve the tasks, making it easy for developers to follow di code wey come out from am,” OpenAI explain.
The way developers fit use Codex be say, dem go enter prompts for di ChatGPT web app sidebar and either select “Code” or “Ask” button. Dat one go trigger Codex to start work or answer questions. Each task go dey logged, and developers fit see di progress live as e dey happen.

For now, Codex dey roll out to all ChatGPT Pro, Enterprise, and Team users for free as dem go explore di features. OpenAI get plans to introduce rate limits and pricing later, but dem no don specify date yet.
