On Thursday, de Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, honour de wife of de President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, with a grand ceremony at Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State. During de event, de Ooni unveil a golden statue of Oluremi Tinubu, among other projects named in her honour.
De projects include a 2.7km road, a grand pavilion, and a monument on de university campus, all named after Mrs Tinubu. De Ooni praise her outstanding leadership, dedication to education, women’s empowerment, and national unity. He say, “A golden statue is erected to immortalise her virtuous personality and to showcase de strength of a teacher, mother, and wife at de very heart of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.”
Mrs Tinubu also pledge N1bn donation to de university’s horticultural landscaping. She lament de poor maintenance culture dat has led to de degradation of de campus landscape and call for urgent efforts to restore de environment and revive de beauty of de academic community.
De Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, represented by his deputy, Mr. Kola Adewusi, affirm his administration’s commitment to upgrading infrastructural amenities across de state.
De event was part of de activities marking de 50th birthday celebration of Oba Ogunwusi. De royal father also commend Mrs Tinubu’s efforts in creating spaces for learning, development, and empowerment for all, as reflected in de biggest hostel and pavilion in de history of Obafemi Awolowo University, which bears her name.
