Accra, Ghana – Former Nigeria president, Olusegun Obasanjo don tok say him no try secure any third term for office before. Na during Democracy Dialogue wey Goodluck Jonathan Foundation organize, him open up for people wey dey think say he get agenda.
Obasanjo no yarn nonsense. “If I wanted a third term, I know how to go about it,” him talk. Chai! This man no dey carry last for political matter o! He even vex say nobody fit come and talk say him ever hustle for third term, alive or dead.
Him explain say na so many people dey misjudge am. According to am, the way him handle the debt relief matter wey e do during him administration na pass any third term wahala. E dey drop knowledge like say na Jollof rice wey don dey hot for pot. “I keep telling them that, look, if I wanted to get debt relief, which is more difficult than getting a third term and I got it, if I wanted a third term, I would have got it too,” Obasanjo add.
As dem dey reason this matter, Obasanjo use the chance dull dem wey no wan hand over power. E talk say “clinging to power be like false sense of indispensability.” E no too dey sweet when you jam the reality wey be say if you dey hold on for long, you go miss out on better ideas and fresh opinions.
“I know that the best is done when you are young, ideal and vibrant and dynamic. When you are ‘kuje kuje’, you don’t have the best,” Obasanjo dey remind dem. “They will even tell you that they haven’t got anybody else. I believe that that is a sin against God,” him add. How this man dey reason ehn! One thing clear: if God decide say your time don pass, you better prepare for who go come after you, because dem fit do well or even worse, na only God sabi that one.
