Port Harcourt, Rivers State — Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, don condemn the action of women dem wey loyal to suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as dem waka out during First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu‘s empowerment program for women on Friday.
For the event wey happen for EUI Centre in GRA, Port Harcourt, Wike call the walkout a ‘show of shame’ and embarrassment to Rivers people. The event under the Renewed Hope Initiative aimed to empower 500 women across the state with items like gas cookers, freezers, and generators.
Wike, wey dey China for official work, release statement through him Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, on Saturday. He apologize to President Bola Tinubu and First Lady for the embarrassment, saying the incident no represent the character of Rivers State people.
“For me and those wey dey follow my leadership, we condemn this show of shame. We dey apologize to our First Lady for the conduct of those women wey no reflect the ideals of Rivers citizens,” the statement read.
Wike also accuse Fubara sey na him sponsor the walkout. He add sey Fubara’s actions dey contradict him peace talks. “Dem wey dey plead for peace suppose work towards it, no be doing things wey go insult people like the President and hin wife. All this shenanigans no go bring peace,” Wike continue.
The empowerment program wey tackle small-scale enterprises become a point of controversy as Wike dey urge Fubara to clear him intentions. “Na time for Fubara to show say him wan peace, by talking true to Tinubu about wetin him really want. No be today one talk, tomorrow one do another,” he said.
Wike emphasize say supporters of Fubara make dem stop to ridicule the state. In him statement, he express concern for the negative representation of Rivers for the national stage, urging unity among citizens. “Those few women wey behave like this no fit represent Rivers State values, and we no go tolerate such actions,” he concluded.
