Nikee van Dijk, the 21-year-old striker for FC Twente, scored a consolation goal in their 3-1 loss to Chelsea in the Women's Champions League group stage match on October 17, 2024.
The match, held in Enschede, saw Chelsea dominate from the start. Aggie Beever-Jones opened the scoring for Chelsea in the seventh minute with a shot that took a deflection before going in. Maika Hamano doubled the lead before halftime with a stunning long-range effort from 40 yards out, which sailed over the diving goalkeeper and under the crossbar.
In the second half, Guro Reiten extended Chelsea’s lead to 3-0 with a penalty kick after Mayra Ramirez was fouled in the box. However, Van Dijk gave the home fans something to cheer about when she scored in the 68th minute. She received an excellent ball from Ella Peddemors, outpaced Nathalie Bjorn, and slotted the ball past Zecira Musovic with a low effort.
Despite the consolation goal, Chelsea maintained their control over the game and secured a 3-1 victory, keeping them at the top of Group B in the Champions League.
