Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, the Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), don talk say the agency no dey in charge of how many staff dem go promote. She make dis statement as reaction to the ongoing indefinite strike wey the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government-Owned Companies, an affiliate of the Trade Union Congress, embark on.
The strike start because the workers feel say NAFDAC management no address the critical issues dem outline in their communiqué within the given time frame. Dr Ejor Michael, the Secretary of the TUC, talk say the grievances of the workers include review of the 2024 promotion examination results, appointment of Directors for Public Affairs and Special Duties, training institute placements for North West and North East extractions, and other welfare concerns.
Adeyeye, in a statement signed by the agency’s Resident Media Consultant, Sayo Akintola, say the reasons advanced by the striking workers against the agency are not true. She explain say the agency only dey conduct exams, but the office of the Head of Service of the Federation dey responsible for allocating available vacancies that the government can pay for.
On the issue of estacode, the NAFDAC DG say there is nothing wrong with the agency’s estacode policy. She add say the staff have always been paid their due estacode and that is not an issue. According to her, the estacode will be paid when the evidence of the trip is presented, and the agency has never owed any staff any travel allowance.
