On Friday, October 18, 2024, the Ogun State Police Command confirm say mob kill one motorcycle thief, John Udoh, for early hours of Friday at Atoyo Okeigbo community, Aruba Sagamu.
Udoh and him partner, Peter Ubong, be members of a five-man gang wey invade the community around 2:00 AM and attack one Emeka Ruben, stealing him motorcycle wey worth N1.2 million.
Emeka Ruben alert the youths of the community, and dem arise to the challenge at midnight, arrest Udoh and Ubong. The two suspects be beaten severely by the mob, leading to the death of John Udoh as confirm by doctor at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.
Peter Ubong, who be in critical condition, dey hospitalized. Three other members of the gang, Adaka, Stephen, and Jeresy, manage to escape with the stolen motorcycle.
Udoh and Ubong confess say dem be part of a five-member group responsible for the theft of 15 solar streetlights and two other motorcycles from the community. Dem also provide the names of their accomplices involved in the crime in Ajaka, a part of the Sagamu division, and admit to committing other burglaries in the Sagamu area.
The police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, say both divisions dey collaborate to ensure the apprehension of the named suspects and recover the stolen motorcycle. Investigations dey ongoing.
