Miriam Adelson, di wealthy Israeli-American billionaire, don dash $100 million to di campaign of Donald Trump, making good on a pledge she reportedly made at di start of di general election season. Dis donation, which is di largest among new batch of major spending disclosures, was made through her super PAC, Preserve America.
Adelson, who is 79 years old, has long been one of di largest sources of campaign money for Republican candidates. She and her late husband, Sheldon Adelson, have consistently backed Trump during each of di last three general elections. Di Adelson family has been instrumental in shaping American policy on di Israeli-Palestinian conflict, particularly in Trump’s decision to move di U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in 2017.
Di $100 million donation was distributed in installments: $25 million each in July, August, and September, plus an additional $20 million at di end of September. This contribution eclipses di $75 million donated by Elon Musk to his own pro-Trump super PAC.
Miriam Adelson’s ties to Israel are very deep. Born in Tel Aviv during di British Mandate, she speaks fluent Hebrew and served as an officer in di Israeli military. She is also di owner of Israel’s largest newspaper, *Israel Hayom*, and spends much of her time in Israel.
Her political stance is clear, as she has expressed strong support for Israel’s campaign against Hamas and has been against di establishment of a Palestinian state. This position puts her at odds with liberal-leaning Jewish organizations like J Street.
