The Medical Art Centre in Ikeja, Lagos State, has just received the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 certification from IEMA Standards Limited. This achievement was announced during a press briefing on Wednesday, where the centre’s Chairman and Chief Medical Director, Prof. Oladipo Ashiru, highlighted the centre’s unwavering commitment to excellence.
Prof. Ashiru emphasized that the ISO 9001:2015 certification is a testament to the centre’s adherence to global standards. He mentioned that the laboratory protocols at the centre strictly follow the standards of the American Board of Bioanalysis and the Association of Fertility and Reproductive Health guidelines, ensuring alignment with international benchmarks.
The centre has a 30-year legacy of quality, dedication, and passionate service in the field of Assisted Reproductive Technology. Over the years, it has welcomed more than 3,000 babies into the world, bringing joy to countless families in Nigeria, neighbouring West African countries, the Americas, and Europe.
The Director-General of IEMA Standards Limited, Dr. Raymond Smith, explained the rigorous evaluation process that the centre underwent to ensure it met international standards. He stated that the centre was subjected to a thorough process over several months to confirm its alignment with global standards.
Dr. Smith also noted that maintaining the standard is crucial and that IEMA will conduct annual surveillance to ensure compliance. The centre’s procedures now adhere to international standards, and it has successfully met these requirements.
