Temwa Chawinga, di Malawian forward wey dey play for Kansas City Current, don break di record for most goals scored in one season for di National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). On Saturday, Chawinga score her 19th goal of di season, surpassing di previous record of 18 goals set by Sam Kerr in 2019.

Chawinga achieve dis feat with a stunning strike from distance in di 35th minute of their match against Bay FC. Dis goal not only give her di new record but also help her team secure a win.

Chawinga, who be 26 years old, dey her first season in NWSL after she move from di Chinese Women’s Super League. Her older sister, Tabitha Chawinga, recently sign for Lyon dis summer.

Sam Kerr, who set di previous record with Chicago Red Stars in 2019, score 18 goals in 21 regular-season matches. Chawinga’s 19th goal come in her 24th game of di season. Neither Kerr nor Chawinga score any of their goals from di penalty spot.

Despite breaking di single-season record, Kerr still remain di NWSL leader in regular-season goals with 77 goals over seven seasons.
