Lagos, Nigeria — Lagos State Government don catch 21 people and organizations wey dey operate as unlicensed money lenders for state. Dem do am as part of effort to regulate money lending business and make sure dem follow existing laws. Dis one happen on Tuesday for Alausa, Ikeja, during ministerial press briefing to mark two years wey Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu don dey for second term.
Commissioner for Home Affairs, Olanrewaju Layode, talk say, “Dis money lending sector get plenty complexities and how we fit manage dem dey big challenge. As e be now, we get about 623 registered money lenders wey dey operate for Lagos.” He still talk say some of dem no dey follow licensing rules. “We don sanction and close the office of 21 unlicensed money lenders so far,” he confirm.
Layode no hold back as he complain about how some lenders dey try to dodge oversight by changing their office addresses without telling the ministry. Dis one dey add to the challenge wey dem dey face.
For another matter, Layode talk about how Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board dey try to improve awareness and participation for Christian pilgrimages. Dem don start courtesy visits to important stakeholders like ministries, agencies, local governments, media houses, corporate organizations, and churches.
He praise the board, wey Dr. Gbolabo Okudero dey lead, for their commitment and planning wey go help make the pilgrimage smooth for Lagos pilgrims in 2025. “The board dey serious for enhancing the pilgrimage experience and promoting spiritual growth among Lagosians through their efforts to strengthen partnerships across the state. We dey hope say dis year pilgrimage go dey hitch-free,” Layode explain.
