One labourer, Monday Koja, wey dey work for one private university for Ogun State, don lose im life on Wednesday after im get electrocuted.
According to *PUNCH Metro*, Koja, wey be from Benue State, dey work with some bricklayers for the university premises in Ajebo area of Ogun State. Im try to connect electricity for the workers but accidentally connect the positive and negative wires together, which lead to im electrocution and death.
A police source, who no want im name to be mentioned, say, “Today, on October 16, 2024, at approximately 6:05 PM, the duty officer at the Ajebo Out Post report that the Chief Security Officer of Macpherson University in Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, inform the Ajebo Police Post about an incident that occur around 4:20 PM.”
Koja, who be 25 years old and reside in Ijana Alapako, no be electrician but im still try to connect the electricity as darkness fall. The wrongful connection give am electric shock and im die immediately.
Dem take the victim to the university’s hospital where the doctor confirm im death. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirm the incident and say the body of the deceased dey deposited at the Ipara morgue.
Odutola add that police officers visit the site of the incident and no suspect foul play. The mother and other family members of the deceased were present at the scene. “The body has been taken to the Ipara Private Mortuary for burial arrangements. Further investigation is ongoing,” Odutola say.
