KKR Scatter CSK for Chepauk, Win Blow Fast by 8 Wickets!

Chennai, India — Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) made a statement with a stunning performance, defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 8 wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 11, 2025. This match marked a significant low for CSK, who posted their lowest-ever IPL total at home, scoring just 103 runs, with Sunil Narine shining both with bat and ball.

Narine starred by taking 3 wickets for a mere 13 runs and batting down the order with a remarkable 44 off just 18 balls. CSK captain MS Dhoni’s return to the helm was overshadowed by the team’s struggles, as they faced their third consecutive loss at their home ground.

After winning the toss, KKR opted to bowl first, putting pressure on the CSK batters from the very beginning. CSK found it difficult to get going, losing key wickets early on. Only Shivam Dube (31 not out) and Vijay Shankar (29) showed some resistance, while the rest of the batting lineup crumbled. Narine’s bowling included the prized scalps of Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rahul Tripathi, contributing to CSK being restricted to 103/9 in their 20 overs.

“We bowled really well,” Narine shared after the match. “It feels great to contribute both in bowling and batting, and to keep our momentum going through the chase.”

Quinton de Kock aided in the chase, managing to hit three sixes before being dismissed, but his contribution laid a firm foundation. Under pressure, KKR easily chased down CSK’s total in only 10.1 overs.

The final moments of the match saw Rinku Singh finish the game with a six off Ravindra Jadeja, capping off what was a wholly one-sided affair. In his post-match comments, captain Ajinkya Rahane praised his team’s all-round performance, “Everyone contributed today, and it’s a massive boost for us going forward in the tournament.”

This victory propels KKR to the third position in the IPL 2025 standings, while CSK’s difficulties continue as they sit near the bottom of the table. “We need to reflect and come back stronger,” said Dhoni after the match, as he acknowledged the importance of getting back on track.

Kolkata will look to maintain their form in the following matches, leaving CSK to ponder deeper problems after this heavy defeat.
