E say Kanu dey make plenti broadcasts wey dey incite people to violent actions, as part of im campaign to create Biafra, a separate nation for di southeastern region of Nigeria.
Di judge also state say, although dem fit give Kanu death penalty, e decide to temper justice with mercy (no be wetin we dey see everyday). Kanu dey face seven-count charges and im get chance to appeal di judgement within 90 days.
Many no expect dis kind ruling; Kanu’s lawyer, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, don declare di judgement as “aberration,” insisting say e no follow law but politics (typical Nigerian drama!). Dem plan to fight am in di higher courts. Kanu, wey also get British citizenship, don deny di charges, claiming say dem no valid and e refuse to defend im sef during di trial.
