Lagos, Nigeria — Jennifer Awele, di wife of late Nollywood actor Junior Pope, don share emotional tribute as dem mark one year since him tragic death. Awele post di touching message for her Instagram handle on Thursday, reflecting di difficulties she encounter over di past 12 months.
In her message, she talk say every day don dey filled with thoughts of her late husband. ‘It’s been one year of standing in di face of our unimaginable loss, and not a day has gone by without a thought of you,’ she wrote. ‘Your love still surrounds us, your laughter echoes in our hearts, and your presence is felt in di quiet moments when we miss you most.’
Awele narrate how hard e don be to stay strong for di children, saying, ‘You have no idea how tough it’s been, trying to stay strong for each other even as di world around us seems fallen apart.’ She continue by saying, ‘Di grief remain heavy, di absence left a void that words can never fill, but through it all, we look up for strength from heaven as a guiding light.’
She express say di pain has taught dem to take life one day at a time. ‘Oh death, you have taught us to live each day as it comes, one step at a time bearing such extreme pain that can never go away,’ Awele add.
The pain of loss don reflect on how their children dey cope. Awele share di heartbreak of questions from her sons, Jason and Jaden, who wan know if their Daddy go fulfill im promise of taking dem to a proper football academy and be present for their first official match. ‘Daddy told dem he wouldn’t miss it for anything in di world,’ she said. Di youngest, Jamon, dey ask when Daddy go bring di big toy car wey him promise him.
Awele show appreciation to all di people wey don support dem during dis tough time. ‘We appreciate everyone who sympathized with us and stood and still stand by us through our time of grief,’ she noted. ‘Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude for your love and support towards us.’
She conclude di tribute with a touching message to her late husband, saying, ‘To our beloved, you did not only leave us, your family but so many who loved you and loved your works. It is so difficult and unbelievable to say these words, but still, continue to rest in di bosom of di Almighty. You will always be in our hearts and our thoughts, and your memories and legacy will live on forever.’
Junior Pope tragically died on April 10, 2024, along with others, when dem drowned inside Anam River for Anambra State after coming back from a movie shoot produced by Adanma Luke. Di incident spark public outrage, especially towards di producer for not putting safety measures in place.
