J-Hope, one of the members of the popular K-pop group BTS, don dey back home after he finish his 18 months military service in South Korea. He be the second member of the group to complete dis mandatory national service, following Jin who finish his own in June.
On Thursday, J-Hope, wey be 30 years old, come out from the military base in Wonju, Gangwon province, wearing uniform and black beret. He smile as he see Jin and over 100 fans and reporters wey come celebrate his return. “Thanks to the fans, I was able to finish it (the service) safely, with health,” he tell dem.
J-Hope also talk about how he feel for the past one and a half years, saying “a lot of soldiers are working hard, dedicating themselves, and doing so much to protect the country.” He ask the public to show love and interest for those wey dey serve in the military.
Fans from different parts of the world, including China and Brazil, come to welcome J-Hope back to civilian life. Dem hang colourful banners and even put life-size cut out of J-Hope dancing outside the base. Despite safety warnings, around 50 fans show up to celebrate his discharge.
The discharge of J-Hope dey expected to boost the K-pop industry, especially for HYBE, the label wey manage BTS. Shares in HYBE rise 4.7% in early trade after the news. The rest of the BTS members will complete their service by June 2025, and the group is expected to reunite next year.
Jin, who finish his service in June, announce that he will release his first solo album in November. The album, titled “Happy,” will feature six tracks.
