Ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State scheduled for November 16, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has announced the deployment of 22,239 police personnel to ensure security during the election process.
According to the IGP, these personnel will be tasked with maintaining law and order, as well as ensuring the safety of voters, election officials, and the entire electoral process. This massive deployment is part of the comprehensive security strategy to guarantee a peaceful and credible election.
The police personnel will work in collaboration with other security agencies to cover all aspects of the election, from polling stations to collation centers. This joint effort aims to prevent any form of violence or electoral malpractice.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has also expressed its readiness for the election, with plans to deploy its own officials to support the electoral process. The combined efforts of INEC and the police are expected to contribute significantly to the success of the election.
