Abuja, Nigeria — Wetin we go call dis one? Na wah! House of Representatives don seh make Federal Government cancel di plan wey dey gas for WAEC to introduce Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for di 2026 WASSCE. Dem dey worry say if dem no act fast, many students fit fail, become depressed, plus plenty other kasala go burst.
So, na Hon. Kelechi Nworgu, wey be Rep, carry di motion come on Thursday, November 13, 2025. E talk say, “Dis matter no be joke o!” No be small tin. E emphasize say e get as things go dey bad if WAEC no prepare well before dem jump into di swimming pool without checking di water first.
According to am, plenty secondary schools across Nigeria get wahala with infrastructure. Most of dem no get functioning computers, no light, and no internet. E come dey vex say students wey never even touch computer before wan dey asked to write up to nine subjects via di CBT format. How dem wan manage dat one with no proper preparation? Na for dem to just pack dem go wahala!
Di Federal Ministry of Education gats listen well as di motion dey shine spotlight on di poor conditions. Reality be say di plan fit disadvantage rural areas, wey dem no even sabi wetin be laptop from Adam. Just like we see di 2025 WAEC portal wey crash, di rushed CBT plan fit cause serious headache for students, and we no wan hear say dem dey rush am go di grave.
Dem don propose make di Ministry of Education and WAEC take at least three years to iron out di koko and transition to computer-based exams around 2029-2030. Na wetin dem dey call proper planning! Dem also advise say di government fit add budget for di recruitment of computer teachers, build computer halls wey gats get internet, and provide standby generators. How dem wan run exams when power no dey?
Di House come order WAEC and di Ministry to suspend di CBT plans for now. Dem don also create Committees wey dey in charge to palaver with stakeholders for education and technology sectors and bring report back in four weeks. Na so dem dey take am serious.
All dis turns dey show say education no be for play. If we no fit get am right now, wahala go dey follow up down di line. When dem go put better systems in place, den we fit talk about moving to di new school style of exam. Anything wey no follow di plan fit lead to serious gbege wey we no fit afford. Na so e be!
