South Korean author Han Kang don win di 2024 Nobel Prize for Literature. Han Kang be di first person from South Korea to win di Nobel Prize in Literature. Di Swedish Academy praise her writing for transcending typical boundaries and delving into diverse genres. Her notable works include ‘The Vegetarian’, ‘Human Acts‘, ‘The White Book‘, and ‘Greek Lessons’.
When di news reach her, Han Kang just finish dinner with her son at her home in Seoul. She describe di moment as “surprised and honoured”. She mention say she no work dat day, just read a bit and take a walk, making it a very peaceful evening before di surprise call from di Nobel Prize committee.
Han Kang say writers from her childhood, both Korean and translated works, have been her inspiration. She find it difficult to pick specific names but mention say she love books like ‘The Brothers Lionheart’ by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. For those new to her work, she recommend starting with her most recent book, ‘We Do Not Part‘.
Di Nobel Prize in Literature come with a financial award of 11 million Swedish kronor (about $1 million) and a medal, which she will receive during a ceremony on December 10.
