Gwamnatin tarayyar Naijeriya ta fara yankan N50 a kowace tsarin kuwatana ta elektronik wanda ya kai N10,000 zuwa samun dama, wanda ya shafi kamfanonin fintech irin su Opay, Moniepoint, Palmpay, da sauran su.
An yi sanarwar haka ta hanyar kamfanonin fintech a ranar Lahadi, inda suka bayyana cewa yankan N50 na Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL) ya fara aiki tun daga ranar 1 ga Disamba, 2024. Sanarwar Opay ta ce, “Dear Customer, in line with the FIRS, the EMTL applies starting from December 1st, 2024”.
EMTL wani haraji ne da gwamnatin tarayya ke yin ta hanyar Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) a kowace tsarin kuwatana ta elektronik wanda ya kai N10,000. Haraji haka ya N50 ana yin shi ne kawai mara daya kuma ana yin shi ne ga wanda ya samu kudin.
Kamfanonin fintech sun bayyana cewa suna yin yankan haraji haka ne a madadin gwamnatin tarayya kuma ba su da wata manufa daga haraji haka. Moniepoint ta ce, “FIRS charges you N50 for inflow received in your Moniepoint personal bank account, Moniepoint does not benefit from this but only receives and remits this sum to FIRS”.
Yankan haraji haka ya EMTL ya janyo zargi daga wasu ‘yan Naijeriya, inda wasu kungiyoyi irin su National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) suka kai kori ga gwamnatin tarayya da su daina yankan haraji haka.
