Gombe State government don approve N71,500 as the new minimum wage for civil servants in the state, and dis payment go start from October.
Yusuf Aish-Bello, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for Gombe State, announce dis after dem sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government on Monday.
Aish-Bello explain say a worker on Grade Level 1, Step 1 go receive N71,551.15 as minimum pay. He say the salary structure get its own way, and the old N18,000 and N30,000 no dey relevant again.
He add say the focus be on the basic salary, especially for those wey dey retire, and dem achieve over 60 per cent increase. For example, Level one go have basic salary of N42,000, and as you go up, the amount go come down by consequential adjustment.
Aish-Bello also mention say the state government don implement N10,000 palliative for workers since September 2023, and the labour unions consider dis gesture.
The state deputy governor, Manassah Jatau, who be the Chairman of the Gombe State Minimum Wage Committee, say the government seal agreement with labour union leaders and the new minimum wage go be paid in October. He add say the state government dey committed to the welfare of its workers.
