On Wednesday, di lawmakers express their concern over di sudden increase in fuel prices, saying it could lead to serious problems if not handled properly.
Leaders of di Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and di Trade Union Congress (TUC) are currently in a meeting with di Federal Government to discuss di fuel price hike. Di meeting, which is holding at di Office of di Secretary to di Government of di Federation, involves top government officials like Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, di National Security Adviser; Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Labour Minister; and Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of di Economy.
Other key figures at di meeting include Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Information Minister; Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum; Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources; and representatives from di Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited.
Di NLC had earlier condemned di fuel price hike, calling for an immediate reversal. In a statement signed by its president, Joe Ajaero, di NLC accused di government of only focusing on increasing fuel prices without considering di welfare of Nigerians. Di labour body also asked di government to explain where it is taking di country to.
