Lagos, Nigeria – Dem don dey raise petrol price again o! MRS filling stations, one of the main oil marketing companies wey dey do business for downstream, don increase the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N925 per litre from N885 for Lagos. Chai! Wetin we go do now?
This increase no come as surprise as crude oil price don dey rise since last week. E no go fit surprise person as the Dangote refinery self don adjust di ex-depot price from N825 to N880 on Friday. As e be, MRS go sell PMS for N955 per litre for Southeast and N935 for Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti. E be like say na so we go dey suffer am across Nigeria!
But wait oh, for North East, na N955 dem go chop for petrol, while North West and North Central go pay N945. Na wah! (E be like say dem dey play hide and seek with our pockets.)
Sunday PUNCH report say MRS na one of di major players wey dey distribute Dangote refinery products. No be lie, we fit expect say other refinery partners like Heyden and AP go soon join dis petrol price madness. Dem don dey raise their own prices wey dey follow crude price rise too, so we dey watch dem.
Di report don drop say important crude grades like Bonny Light, Brass River, and Qua Iboe don jump to $79 per barrel, no thanks to di military wahala wey dey happen between Israel and Iran. (E be like say dem wan use our petrol money for war?)
According to Oilprice.com, as of Saturday, Bonny Light dey stand for $78.62 per barrel, Brass River and Qua Iboe dey close to $79 too. Dis new price no just dey above di Federal Government 2025 budget benchmark of $75 per barrel by just $3 o, but e go still fit bring some small relief for di government.
Analysts don already sound di alarm say higher crude prices go lead to increase for local fuel prices as refiners dey face rising cost for di crude wey dem dey use to produce petrol and diesel. Omo, since Monday, depot don start to dey raise pump prices after di wahala for Middle East don make crude prices jump. E still get more wahala as Rainoil don increase price by N50, from N850 to N900 per litre.
As of Monday, prices don reach as high as N920 for Sigmund and N910 for Matrix Warri. Even NIPCO don jump their price go N895 from N827 last week, while Aiteo dey sell petrol for N840. (E be like say dem dey enjoy to dey increase price like dis!)
Local reports also confirm say dem don send security team to manage di mess wey happen after a suicide bomb attack for one joint food place wey many people dey gather. Na wah, even our food place don dey affected by di wahala. E be like say dem no go allow us enjoy our food again!
No forget say na di normal thing be this: as crude dey rise, na so petrol price dey rise. We don hear say Naija no fit run away from dis oil wahala. We just dey pray say make dem fit manage dis situation well o, sharp sharp!
